Chantal Encavey: A Voice for Hoxton

Lawyer and residents campaigner, Chantal Encavey will contest the Hoxton West by-election for the Liberal Democrats and is determined to give local people a voice.

Lawyer and residents campaigner, Chantal Encavey will contest the Hoxton West by-election for the Liberal Democrats and is determined to give local people a voice.

"I've spoken to so many people who simply no longer bother reporting problems to the Council or to Hackney Homes because they've lost faith that it will make any difference," says Chantal.

Problems range from inadequate cleaning of communal areas and unsecured gates to anti-social behaviour linked to drugs and alcohol.

"Nobody in Hoxton expects to live in a palace or for it to be silent all the time - this is the middle of the city," says candidate, Chantal Encavey, "but to have people getting drunk outside your window at 3am or urinating in residential stairwells is completely unacceptable.

"Electing another face in the crowd of Labour councillors isn't going to change anything round here. What Hoxton West deserves is an active local representative who will challenge the council to perform, not just toe the party line."

Polling day in Thursday, November 3rd.
