Hackney Lib Dems have resumed local campaigning (Thursday 25th May) with due sensitivity after General Election campaigns were suspended nationally by all political parties following the horrific attack in Manchester.
In a message to members Joe Richards, Parliamentary candidate for Hackney North and Stoke Newington said:
“It's been a sombre two days across the UK, and we've rightly seen a suspension of the general election campaign from all parties.
“On Wednesday evening we gathered outside Hackney Town Hall and observed a minute's silence in remembrance of the victims of the tragic events in Manchester. I am sure you share with me in our deepest sympathies for the families, friends and loved ones of those that lost their life while simply enjoying themselves at a music concert in one of our great cities.
“It is in our shared empathy and grief that we come together at times like this.
“It is now time we show the world that, albeit with an adjusted tone, we are not knocked down and we continue to campaign and debate in the free way that those who perpetuate hate and attack us wish to stop.
“Only with love, hope and friendship can we beat hate and fear.”
