Hackney residents have just ten more days to respond to a consultation on the future of the 277 bus route, which runs from Leamouth to Highbury and serves communities around Balls Pond Road, Mare Street and Victoria Park.
Transport for London plans to undertake a major redevelopment of Highbury Corner - the traffic junction alongside Highbury & Islington station. As part of this plan, route 277 would no longer be able to terminate at Highbury and would finish at Dalston Junction instead.
Passengers wanting to go beyond Dalston would then need to use the 56 to Essex Road or the 30 which runs to Highbury Corner and then Upper Street. TfL plans to increase capacity on the 30 during peak time and introduce a new N277 night bus between Leamouth and Angel.
These changes may have significant impacts on commuters travelling to, from and through Hackney and the Liberal Democrats encourage all local residents to read and respond to the TfL Consultation
