"to maintain a membership register and provide Local Party Officers with lists of members as necessary;
"to oversee activities to recruit and retain members of the Local Party;
"to facilitate the integration of new members into the Local Party."
- the Hackney Liberal Democrats' constitution
Seb Bayer, Membership Development Officer
Building the team and supporting our people.
The Lib Dems are nothing without our members. You provide our ideas, our funds, our connection to the community and are our "boots on the ground." Most of the time if you see a Lib Dem knocking on doors, delivering leaflets or manning a stall on the street, that person is one of our members volunteering their time.
The MDO's job is to welcome, motivate and train our members and activists to keep the party growing and getting stronger.
Right now, new members are being welcomed by Seb Bayer. Seb is a keen cyclist, originally from Bavaria but now settled in N1. He recently became a dad for the first time and yet somehow finds time to look after all of us as well!
More about the role:
The Membership Development Officer's term runs from 1st January to 31st December and elections take place at the local party AGM, usually held in October or November. Any local party officer can be appointed to stand in for the Chair if he/she is unavailable and, as such, all officers are also Vice Chairs.
