I recently attended a community engagement event held at Shacklewell Lane Mosque.
Arranged by the Met Police and UK Turkish Islamic Trust it was an evening event bringing together people, of all religions, faiths and walks of life. Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast.
Attended by Shacklewell residents, Met Police, mayor of Hackney, faith leaders and council representatives. One of the talks was by the organisation TellMamaUK (tellmamauk.org) – report anti-Muslim hate in confidence.
We shared an amazing meal of tandoori chicken, lamb kebabs and home made fasulya (white bean) and dolma courses. The carrot halwa dessert was a hit with me!
There is a café next to the mosque well worth a visit, all welcome.
