CUT VAT AND PUT £60 MILLION BACK INTO HACKNEY'S LOCAL ECONOMY!
The Liberal Democrats are calling on the Government to help millions of struggling families by reducing the rate of VAT, the sales tax which is added to many things we buy.
Reducing the tax rate from 20% to 17.5% would mean around £600 to the average family - a significant help for people hit hard by the increasing cost of living.
The cut would be funded by a tax on the profits of fuel companies
“I ran my own business for years,” says council candidate, Ian Sharer, “so I know what a help this measure would be to residents and small businesses in the Cazenove community.”
The plan would reduce the cost of shopping for around 101,000 households in Hackney borough.
