"to manage and improve communications between the Executive Committee, candidates or others in leadership roles and the wider membership."
- the Hackney Liberal Democrats' constitution
The Comms Officer is responsible for co-ordinating all the different ways the Hackney local party keeps in touch with members and supporters.
They are not in charge of communications from other parts of the party, such as London Lib Dems or LDHQ!
Carlo Abbona, Communications Officer
Keeping us all in the know.
We don't just talk to the public, we also talk to our members. The Comms Officer is responsible for all the ways we do that - email, the "teamwork" newsletter, reminder messages, carrier pigeons... maybe.
Conveniently enough, the guy in the job right now is Carlo Abbona, whose day job is all about managing communications and social media. When he's offline, Carlo can be found making delicious homemade pasta.
More about the role:
The Communications Officer's term runs from 1st January to 31st December and elections take place at the local party AGM, usually held in October or November. Any local party officer can be appointed to stand in for the Chair if he/she is unavailable and, as such, all officers are also Vice Chairs.
