UK's hottest July day on record in Cambridge

I was recently in Cambridgeshire and had the opportunity to join the Petersfield canvassing evening with the Cambridge LibDems.  It was Thursday (25 July) and Cambridge may have recorded the hottest day in the UK at 38.7°C!  The Met Office has yet to confirm the reading.

While canvassing we met residents and talked about ‘Stopping Brexit!’, Jo Swinson's Lib Dem leadership win and local issues such as the Mill Road Bridge closure.

It was great to meet Rod Cantrill (prospective parliamentary candidate for Cambridge), Councillor Jamie Dalzell and fellow Lib Dem members.  Following the canvass waters and pints were needed – it was the hottest day after all!
