About Ben

suit_interview_mic.jpegBen was born in Guildford, Surrey in 1982. After living in Sussex and West Wales, the family settled in Dudley, West Midlands in 1993 which is where Ben grew up. Ben is one of three children and has two younger sisters who both still live in the Midlands.

Ben has lived in London for nearly 20 years - moving to Hackney in 2009 - and now lives in Clapton. Ben enjoys baking and gardening, but does little of either in his current flat, which has a tiny kitchen and is on the first floor.

A lifelong RSPB member, he still likes getting out into nature and spends plenty of time walking and bird-watching in Clissold Park, Hackney Marshes and the new Woodberry Wetlands.

hkw2012.jpgBefore starting his own small business this year, Ben spent seven years working locally for London Overground and was part of the team that successfully managed visitors during the London 2012 Olympics - for which he won a London Transport Award.

Within politics, Ben served as Chair of the local Lib Dems in 2016-17 and has led the party's presence at London LGBT Pride for several years.
blackpride.JPGLike many people living in Hackney North, Ben has become ever more frustrated with the current MP and the Labour Party's failure to take a strong stance to keep Britain in the EU.
Ben is standing on an unambiguously pro-European platform - Stop Brexit.
